This summer auction brings together a compelling selection of postmodern and contemporary artworks, mapping diverse artistic identities and sensibilities across generations.

Among the highlights is a still life by Sultana Maitec – a minimal, luminous composition with two red apples set against a shimmering gold background. Subtle yet resonant, the work reflects the distinctive elegance of an artist cherished by collectors.

The avant-garde is represented by a rare, signed, and dated 1920 still life by Marcel Iancu (Marcel Janco), a remarkable piece carrying the unmistakable mark of the Dada pioneer.

Jules Perahim’s Capricorne (1969) offers an intense, symbol-laden composition from one of Romania’s great surrealists, whose fantastical imagery often veils sharp social commentary in dreamlike settings.

In a more contemplative register, Ștefan Câlția contributes a serene landscape, a poetic composition that continues his enduring exploration of memory, place, and the tension between the real and the imagined.

For those drawn to the enigmatic visual language of Sabin Bălașa, the auction includes a striking canvas populated by his signature ethereal figures, Amazon-like women with flowing hair, flawless forms and otherworldly faces, set against blue skies and rugged landscapes.

From the contemporary sphere, the selection features Indian Story (2000) by Mircea Suciu, alongside a monochrome composition by Răzvan Boar, depicting suited figures and a blindfolded man before a shadowy authority, evoking themes of control, conformity, and silent resistance.

Hortensia Mi Kafchin’s Târg de Artă (Art Fair), an oil and resin work on chipboard from 2012–2013, brings irony and pointed cultural observation into focus.

Also featured is a rare collage by Ion Bârlădeanu, one of Romania’s most singular contemporary voices, whose irreverent and incisive visual narratives remain uniquely his own.

The auction is further enriched by two expressive paintings by Ecaterina Vrana (b.1969 – d.2019), a compelling Card Players by Georges Mazilu, and a strong selection of contemporary works, offering multiple perspectives on how identities are assembled, deconstructed, and reimagined through art.
