17th Century Map
- A rare 17th century antique map of Portugal, hand coloured copper plate engraving. Originally part of the Atlas Maior, published in Amsterdam. Elaborate hand coloured ornamentation surrounding scale bars and title, depicting cherubs, dogs, flora and the Portuguese and Algarve emblems.
Title: "Novissima Regnorum Portugallie et Algarbiae Descriptio, emendata a F. de Wit Amstelodami" - with inscription "Ex Officina Frederici de Witt cum Privilegio. D.D Ordinem Hollandiae et Westfrisiae" above.
Maker: Frederik de Wit (1630-1706).
Circa 1690.
