Born in Montevideo of French parents, Eugene Damblans was a painter, watercolourist and illustrator for leading Parisian magazines of his time, such as La Caricature, Maison de la bonne presse, Le Pèlerin, Journal des romans populaires illustrés, Noël Illustré, Terre Illustrée, Journal des Voyages, Jeunesse amusante, Le Petit Journal, L'Echo du Noel, L'Illustré national and Le Soleil du dimanche.
