Julián Grau Santos, son of Emilio Grau Sala and Ángeles Santos Torroella, trained in Barcelona (Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts) and is known for his works of a certain expressionism, executed with mastery of drawing and the use of various techniques (drawing, watercolour, pastel, ceramics, mainly). After the Spanish Civil War he settled in Paris, where he studied the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. His work can be seen in institutions in Barcelona, Paris, Zaragoza and Madrid and his work was awarded the Ramón Rogent Medal at the Salón de Mayo in Barcelona (1962). Paintings by
his work can be found in important collections such as the Mapfre Foundation, the BBVA Collection and the ABC Museum, among others.
