Sculptural group ca. 1912
Set consisting of three sculptural elements: a naked child holding flowers and plants, and two birds each holding a lizard with their feet. The quality of the work suggests certain ceramic decorations of the Valencian master Mariano Benlliure, made for decorative purposes, specifically the so-called Fountain of the children. This work was completed in 1912 in his Madrid workshop at his house on José Abascal Street. The success of this composition caused the demand for this group that the master repeated for different national and foreign destinations.
It is a sculptural work worthy of detailed study in order to confirm or deny its possible proximity and/or relationship with the workshop of the Valencian master.
Measurements: 62 x 42 cm (Child); 41 x 32 x 20 cm (bird, right); 42 x 36 x 22 cm (bird, left).
