Original sculpture by the artist Antonio Campillo Párraga (Camino del Badel, Era Alta (Murcia), 29 June 1926 - Murcia, 16 May 2009). Of Murcian origin, he began his first rudiments in the workshop of his fellow countryman and master sculptor Juan González Moreno, a celebrity in the post-war imagery of Cartagena and Murcia. He trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Murcia (1943) and the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid (1946). He won the Francisco Salzillo award on two occasions with his works Virgen de la Salud ( 1953) and Venus on a bicycle ( 1969).
He was a professor of sculptural modelling in official schools in both Madrid and Cordoba, as well as an academician and one of the founders of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Santa María de la Arrixaca (Murcia).
His sculptural activity deals continuously with Christian iconography, mainly for religious institutions. His main works are the figures of the fountain in Plaza de España (Madrid). He had collective exhibitions in Madrid (Ocho Escultores, 1979), Seville (Exposición Universal de Sevilla, 1992) and Murcia (Murcia 1956-1972: Una ciudad hacia l desarrollo). His work can also be seen in the Antonio Campillo Museum (Ceutí, Murcia), where he is an adopted son, as well as in the capital of Murcia. The culmination of his sculptural career was celebrated in 2009 with an anthological exhibition held in various venues in Murcia.
