French lithograph on paper, Still Life with Seashell, after Henri Matisse (1869-1954) original pencil painting on paper, 1941. From the book Dessins: Themes et Variations. Signed and dated in the plate, lower right. Framed. Henri Matisse was a French artist, known for both his use of color and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. Matisse is commonly regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.
