ANTIQUE 19 C HUDDY AND DUVAL PA ARMORY LITHOGRAPH
A beautifully executed Huddy and Duval lithograph featuring an officer sitting on a camp chair and two standing soldiers. Titled and inscribed to the lower margin: To Capt. E.W. Roberts Dauphin Guards Harrisburg, Pa. This Plate is most respectfully dedicated by Huddy and Duval. Vol 3. Entered according to Act of Congress in the Year 1841 by Huddy and Duval, in the Clercks Office of the District Court of the Eastern District of Pa. Matted and framed. Huddy and Duval, the partnership between Philadelphia lithographers William M. Huddy and Peter S. Duval was active 1839-1843. The lithographers partnered in 1839 to publish the U. S. Military Magazine, a monthly magazine devoted to the activities of Philadelphia's volunteer militia groups. Each issue included an illustration of a member wearing a militia uniform, most of which were drawn by Huddy, lithographed by Alfred Hoffy, and printed by Duval.
