RUSSIAN OIL PAINTING BY SCHERBAKOV AFTER NESTEROV

Boris Valentinovich Scherbakov, Russian, Soviet, 1916 to 1996, oil painting on canvas, On The Mountains, 1951, after the original oil painting on board, 1896, by Mikhail Nesterov, Russian, 1862 to 1942. Signed and dated lower left. Framed. Additionally signed, dated and inscribed on the backside. Mikhail Nesterov was fascinated by the novels of Pavel Melnikov, In the Forests, and On the Mountains, which transferred the reader to the colorful environment of the Trans Volga Old Believers. The impression from what he read served as the appearance of paintings related to the dramatic female fate. The painting, On the Mountains became the first work of the cycle. The artist wanted to show the passionate yearning of a pure, loving, dreamy soul, whose bright impulses are not reciprocated. The beautiful Ufa landscape, captivating with wide expanse, has become a kind of equivalent of the inner world of a girl. Boris Scherbakov is a Russian artist, known for Landscape, genre, figure and history painting. Mikhail Vasilyevich Nesterov is a Russian and Soviet artist, painter, and member of the Association of Traveling Exhibitions and the World of Art. Mikhail Nesterov is known for Landscape and portrait paintings, and religious art. One of a kind artwork.
