LATVIAN CONSTRUCTIVIST PAINTING BY GUSTAV KLUTSIS
Gustav Klutsis, Latvian, 1895 to 1938, mixed media, gouache and pencil, painting on paper depicting a suprematist abstract composition. Signed and stamped lower left. Framed. Provenance: collection of Erikh Fodorovich Gollerbakh. Stamped on the backside. Gustav Klutsis was a pioneering Latvian photographer and major member of the Constructivist avant garde in the early 20th century. He is known for the Soviet revolutionary and Stalinist propaganda he produced with his wife Valentina Kulagina and for the development of photomontage techniques. One of a kind artwork.
