Yuri Gorbachev (Russian Soviet, born 1948) mixed media (oil, gold, bronze, and copper) painting on canvas, Topper, 2003. Signed lower right. Additionally signed, titled, dated, and inscribed on the back. Inscribed, Portrait of Topper to Barry Landau with Love Yuri Gorbachev January 20, 2003, on the back. Farmed. Yuri Gorbachev is known for Animal, figure, landscape.Yuri Gorbachev, illustrator, ceramist, and painter, arrived in the United States from the former USSR in 1991. Established in Russia as a ceramics artist, Gorbachev expanded his energy into painting oil on canvas. He was inspired by Karl Faberge and the Byzantine sensibility and uses the unusual techniques derived from his extensive work with ceramics to create colorful, textured canvases in oil and gold. His subjects include Russian winter landscapes and interiors with fruit and animals as well as mythological figures and more recent series of paintings from Russian and Balinese icons to Russian Czars and the evolution of man. One of a kind artwork.
