Boris Mestchersky, Russian, French, American, 1889 to 1957, oil painting on canvas, Harlequin and Lady, depicting a theatrical scene, 1937. Signed with an initial and dated lower left. Framed. Additionally signed, inscribed, New York, and dated, on verso. Framed. Boris Alekseevich Mestchersky is a Russian, American artist, and theater designer. From an old princely family. From 1922 to 1923 he studied the technique of fresco painting under P. Baudouin. Together with M. Denis and J. Devaliere, he founded a workshop on religious art in Paris. Designed productions in theaters in Paris and Brussels. He painted still lifes, portraits, and landscapes. Illustrated books by F. Chasalle. He worked for the theater of Gaston Baty In the 1930s. Russian and American Fine Art, Modern Theatre Scene Paintings, and Collectibles. One of a kind artwork.
