BYZANTINE SILVER RING WITH RED CARNELIAN CABOCHON
Ca. AD 1200 - 1300 .
A Medieval Byzantine silver ring with a red carnelian cabochon set in an oval bezel connected to a round hoop. In Byzantine society, silver rings served as symbols of status and identity. Worn by both men and women, these rings often featured intricate engravings or gemstone embellishments. They were not only fashion accessories but also tokens of allegiance or markers of familial lineage. Silver rings adorned the hands of Byzantine nobility, clergy, and merchants, reflecting their wealth and social standing. For similar El Legado de Hefesto n. 561; 563.
