Ca. 1811.A heavy pistol with a smoothbore barrel and a flintlock firing mechanism. The year 1811 is inscribed on the lock plate. The loop on the butt of the pistol suggests that the gun was intended for a cavalryman, as it allowed for the gun to be attached to the rider.Size: 380mm x 140mm; Weight: 1.2kgProvenance: From the private collection of an Essex gentleman; previously in an old British Collection, formed in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
