SUPERB LA-TENE BRONZE SWORD WITH DECORATED HANDLE
Ca. 1200 - 800 BC.A wonderful example of a rare vollgriff (“full grip”) sword from the Bronze Age. The sword has a large, raised centre groove, an inverted lunate guard, a three-sectioned handle and a disc pommel with a raised centre dome. The handle is adorned with circle motifs alternating with a motif of three horizontal lines. The sword’s heft and well-placed balance point indicate its superb craftsmanship.
