EGYPTIAN BLUE FAIENCE AMULET DJED PILLAR
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. An exemplary mould-formed pendant in the form of a djed pillar. A djed pillar is characterised as a sizable structure with a gently flared base, a tiered upper section and a suspension hole drilled through the integral dorsal pillar. The amulet is adorned in a lustrous blue-green glaze. The Djed pillar amulet was a highly favoured item to be placed on mummies and was also interpreted as the backbone of Osiris. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
