A GROUP OF FOUR QAJAR LUSTRE-PAINTED STAR TILES
Iran, Ca. 17-18th century AD or later. A group comprising four ceramic tiles of eight-pointed star form, each under a transparent glaze and painted in coppery lustre over a white ground. The designs include a variety of vegetal scrolls, geometric motifs, and one with a seated feline figure, possibly a lion. Each tile a slight variation in design and tone. Size: 125-135mm x 125-130mm; Weight: 880gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
