A SILVER-GILT ROSEWATER BOTTLE
Possibly Iran, or India, Ca. 10th - 11th century AD. A silver-gilt rosewater bottle with an apple-shaped body and a narrow cylindrical neck. The main body is decorated with incised and gilded designs, including a series of medallions containing stylised birds in profile, enclosed by scrolling arabesques. The upper section of the body features a band with geometric and calligraphic elements. The base is slightly raised with a flared foot.Size: 220mm x 120mm; Weight: 190gProvenance: Private European ownership, pre-1971. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
