Ali Al Jabiri (Iraq, 1948 - Rome 2018)UntitledOil on canvas 79.5 X 59.5 cm - Ali Al Jabiri was born in Amara (Iraq) in 1948. He studied fine arts in Baghdad before moving to Italy in 1970, where he continued his training in sculpture and decorative arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Over the course of his career, he has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions both in Iraq and abroad and his fame was enhanced by his participation in the Iraqi pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1976, 1988 and 1990. The artist also created a series of large monuments that can still be found today in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.The subject of this painting comes from the Islamic tradition as it shows of the domes of two mosques, drawn with parallel hatching in shades of white, green and brown. The authenticity of the painting is confirmed by the artist's heirs.
