David Daoud (Lebanon, Beirut, 1970)Paysage Onirique, 2021Oil on canvas Measure: 60 X 60 cm - Daoud and his family left Lebanon in 1978 and moved to Paris, where he received his artistic training as a sculptor and painter. The artist began his career as a sculptor, but soon switched to painting, which became his main form of expression, becoming very well known internationally, having received numerous awards and prizes both in France and abroad. His style can be described as expressionist and is characterised by an ‘instinctual’ rendering of figures that seem to be tangled up in themselves, as in this painting depicting a character standing on the right and other travelers in a boat against an alienating yellow background. The theme of travelers is recurrent in Daoud’s production as it is universal and can be found in all cultures of all times.David Daoud's works can be found in several collections, including: the Institute du Monde Arabe in Paris, the Museum of Prehistory in Beirut, the Town Hall of Marines, Vexin (France) and that of Isle-Adam (France). Signed lower right. Signed and dated on the reverse.
