Mossi flutes Burkina Faso, 20th century, wood, length 18.25 inches. Old break to largest flute.

Flutes attributed to the Mossi, Bwa, the Nuna of Burkina Faso are played to accompany various ceremonies and dances. Schematic forms are anchored by a central vertical element, the angular arm like extensions forming a triangular central axis.
