Rare Map of the Baltic Sea - Poland - Sweden - Finland - Lithuania - J. S. Hobbs
Located in the upper right corner of this map, a framed description provides us with valuable information regarding its content. This beautifully crafted "Chart of the Baltic Sea combricing all the modern surveys" was created by the renowned hydrographer John Stratton Hobbs, and published in 1883 by Charles Wilson, later J. W. Norie & Wilson. The map encompasses all the current surveys at that time, and would have been a useful tool for sailors and navigators in the late 19th century, aiding their navigation and exploration of the region. This map portrays the entirety of the Baltic Sea, covering countries such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and other surrounding territories. Additionally, the map features coastlines, cities, sea depths, ports, rivers, and other objects that were significant for navigation and the development of trade in the region. As a historical artifact, it offers a glimpse into the world of cartography and navigation during that time period, and is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of autor of this map.

The work is in good condition overall. There may be a few minor imperfections or fox or mottled marks to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
