At the top of the map, the city of Leiden is showcased, while in the foreground, we see the army of the prince sailing in small ships on the water. This visual representation provides a unique and detailed overview of the historical event. In the top left corner of the map, there is an illustration of a pigeon carrying examples of the emergency money that was put into circulation during the siege. This highlights the resourcefulness and resilience of the city's inhabitants during this challenging period. Meanwhile, the top right corner features another pigeon with the inscription ”1-20,” presumably denoting the denomination or value of the emergency currency. The work is attributed to Coenraet Decker, a printmaker from Amsterdam. Created sometime between 1677 and 1730.
