Work considered by many to be the most beautiful book on Portuguese customs ever published, comprising 50 engravings and 53 ff. text in English and French explaining each of the beautiful aquatints representing various Portuguese customs. Prof. Martim de Albuquerque, in his introduction to the facsimile edition, says: “In the pages that the reader will go through, the text and the image depict a vanished society, in its habits, in its types, in its picturesqueness. Time it was. People who passed. From all over the country: from Lisbon, as well as from the surrounding saloia area; from Coimbra; from Alentejo; from Ovar; das Caldas...
