CANNAVARO - JERSEY NO. 5 REAL MADRID
Fabio Cannavaro (Naples, 13 September 1973) is an Italian football coach and former footballer.
Considered one of the greatest defenders of his generation if not one of the best in the history of football, in 2006 he won the Ballon d'Or (the fifth Italian winner of the award, after the native Omar Sívori, Gianni Rivera, Paolo Rossi and Roberto Baggio) and was elected FIFA World Player of the Year. Inserted in the ideal team of the decade by the Sun in 2009, in 2014 he entered the Hall of Fame of Italian football among footballers.
In 2006 he was world champion with the Italian national team, of which he held the record for appearances (136) from 2009 to 2013 (subsequently surpassed by Gianluigi Buffon) and of which he was captain from 2002 to 2010; he is also the second player with the most appearances as captain for the national team (79, still behind Buffon).
ROLE: defender.
