BAGGIO - SHIRT N. 10 - INTER
Roberto Baggio (Caldogno, 18 February 1967) is a former Italian footballer, vice-world champion with the Italian national team in 1994.
Nicknamed Raffaello by Gianni Agnelli for the elegance of his playing style, and colloquially known as Divin Codino for his characteristic hairstyle, he is considered one of the best players in the history of football. He occupies the 16th position (first Italian) in the special ranking of the best footballers of the 20th century published by World Soccer magazine in 1999. FIFA also placed him in eighth place in the ranking of the best number ten in the history of football while in March 2004 , Pelé included him in the FIFA 100, the list of the 125 best living footballers, drawn up on the occasion of the FIFA Centenary. In addition to this, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Italian football in 2011 and into the Walk of Fame of Italian sport in 2015. On an individual level he also achieved the FIFA World Player and the Ballon d'Or in 1993 and the inaugural edition of the Golden Foot in 2003.
With club teams he won two championships (1994-1995 and 1995-1996), an Italian Cup (1994-1995) and a UEFA Cup (1992-1993). In the national team he took part in three world championships (Italy 1990, United States 1994 and France 1998), coming close to winning the 1994 edition: after having dragged Italy to the final with five decisive goals, he was one of the three Azzurri to make mistakes his penalty shot in the final match of the tournament lost against Brazil. He stood out in Serie A with 205 goals. Also prolific in the national team, with 27 goals in 56 games, he is fourth among the best scorers in the blue shirt, tied with Alessandro Del Piero; furthermore, with nine goals scored, he is the best Italian scorer in the world championship (tied with Paolo Rossi and Christian Vieri), as well as the only one to have scored in three different editions of the tournament.
