Large Apulian red-figure pelike of the Group of Copenhagen 4223. 340 - 330 BC. Height 35,7cm, ø corpus 22,5cm. Amphora shaped symposion vessel for wine. On the frontside a young woman accompanied by an Eros to left. She is wearing chiton, sakkos and rich jewellery and holding a large box and an alabastron, Eros carrying fan and tainia. Backside two draped youth under discussion, between them as a rare detail: two laurel trees. Elaborate usage of white and yellow colour. With an old collectors label! Few small chips at mouth and foot and at the surface of the corpus, otherwise intact. In the property of a German Family since before 1960.
