Pair of Apulian red-figure epichyses of the Menzies Group. 335 - 325 BC. Height 19,6cm and 19,8cm, ø corpus 8cm and 8,2cm. Beaked jug for cosmetic oil with ovoid corpus, above on the sides of each handle an appliqué in form of a woman´s head. On one jug a young woman with sphendone, fan and tainia standing in front of an altar, on the other jug the same motif with an Eros holding instead of the fan a mirror. Details in white and yellow. Very fine drawing style visible especially at the woman. 2 pieces! Tiny chippings at the foot of the Eros-jug, otherwise intact.
