Woodcut view of the city and the Castle of Buda on the German certificate of the sieve-makers’ guild in Pest and Buda.
The document was issued for Ferenc Petyko and dated 15 December 1815. The text and image are in an ornate, beautiful frame with putti in the four corners, symbols of industry, agriculture, clergy, and nobility. At the top, in the middle, is a coat of arms with a double-headed eagle, and the depiction of the Holy Right is in the middle. On the left, the Hungarian, and on the right, the city’s coat of arms are situated. The view was based on the 1763 copper engraving of Fülöp János Binder. Contrary to the custom of the time, the place of the wax seal was left empty at the bottom, and instead, it was attached as a hanging seal in a wooden case.
The dimensions of the view are about 120 x 390 mm, and the dimensions of the sheet are 410 x 540 mm. Framed.
Rózsa: 93/l.
