CHARLES V: (1500-1558) Holy Roman Emperor, and Charles I of Spain 1519-1556. A good L.S., Yo el Rey, one page, folio, La Coruña, 19th May 1520, to the Royal Oath Counselors, in old Spanish. The Emperor orders and requests a lance and armed men to be assigned to Juan De Zaldivar, in the province of Burgos, plus the annual sum of six thousand maradevies, which will grant his support and loyalty from today´s date. Signed at the heading beneath a cross by Juan de Zaldivar. Countersigned to the front `By His Majesty´s mandate´ by Luis de Lizarato, from Castille, with a contemporary annotation at the foot referring to the King´s order. Also bearing an attractive countersignature to the verso. A good signature example. Slightly irregularly trimmed edges, and a very small hole not affecting the text or signature, otherwise VG £600-900
