KRIEGSMARINE: Selection of signed cards, T.Ls.S. (2), A.L.S. (1) by various Admirals and other serving officers of Nazi Germany's navy comprising Karl Donitz (printed card signed, sending thanks for the congratulations received on his birthday, with a few additional words in his hand), Kurt Caesar Hoffmann (to the aviation philatelist Hans Rossbach), Hellmuth Heye, Werner Fuchs (writing on behalf of Erich Raeder and stating, in broken English, 'He is very hard suffering in consequence of his treatment in Spandau and not more able to wright himself') and Gunther Banditt (explaining his reasons for not having replied before to his correspondent, partly as he didn't feel 'sufficiently important' to be part of his correspondent's collection, and also as 'I had a suspicion that, in the background, there was an attempt, on the part of a secret service in the East, to establish contact, since during the war I was merely an ordinary commander of troops (3rd Naval Operational Truck Unit, Fontainebleau, and subsequently, 4th Naval Operational Truck Unit, Navarone)').
