JORDAN DOROTHEA: (1761-1816) Anglo-Irish actress and courtesan, the long-time mistress of Prince William, Duke of Clarence (later King William IV). A scarce A.L.S., Mrs. Jordan, in the third person, one page, 8vo, St. James, n.d. ('Wednesday night'), to Mr. Spring. Jordan states that she would be much obliged if her correspondent could get 'a private box for the Duke of Clarence's children for tomorrow evening'. Some light age wear, one tear to the lower left edge, a small area of paper loss to the upper left edge and one small spindle hole to the centre, none of which significantly affect the signature or text, G
Dorothea Jordan was the mother of ten illegitimate children by the Duke of Clarence, all of whom took the surname FitzClarence.
