ZUKOFSKY LOUIS: (1904-1978) American poet. Small, scarce selection of three A.Ls.S., Louis, each one page, 4to (2; both on folding air mail stationery) and to one side of a plain postcard, New York, 1967-70, all to Tom Maschler. Zukofsky writes on largely social matters, announcing an upcoming performance by his son, Paul, who will be playing Beethoven at Wigmore Hall and hoping that Maschler will meet him, and also sending thanks for some reviews, remarking 'I take it the unfavorable ones don't depress you. They rather amuse me: it seems some people can't avoid publicity. That goes for reviewer and reviewed - tho the respective intentions should in time be obvious' (9th January 1967). Some irregular tears to the edges of the air mail stationery, G to VG, 3
Tom Maschler (1933-2020) British publisher who, from 1960, was head of the publishing company Jonathan Cape for more than three decades. Maschler was also instrumental in establishing the Booker Prize in 1969.
