PAZ OCTAVIO: (1914-1998) Mexican poet, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1990. A.L.S., Octavio Paz, one page, 8vo, Mexico, 24th April 1971, to Tom Maschler. Paz thanks his correspondent for the copies of Configurations ('Yes, it is a handsome book and I like it very much') and continues to enquire about publishing two other works 'Have you decided something about Renga - in Cape Galliard? [Charles] Tomlinson has already the English translation. And the book on Levi-Strauss?'. Rare. VG

Tom Maschler (1933-2020) British publisher who, from 1960, was head of the publishing company Jonathan Cape for more than three decades. Maschler was also instrumental in establishing the Booker Prize in 1969.

Charles Tomlinson (1927-2015) English poet, translator and academic who was one of the collaborators with Paz for the anthology Renga: A Chain of Poems (1972).
