As Prince and General of the French King Louis XV, Charles de Lorraine authorizes `the payment of a bill of exchange of 3000 pounds.. issued in Marseille on 24th March as the initial payment for the purchase of Barb horses for the Grand stable of the King..´ With blank address leaf. Few extremely small pinholes, otherwise VG £150-200 The Barb horse, or Berber horse is a northern African breed with great hardiness. The Barb horses were very appreciated at that time for their fiery temperament.
