CAMUS ALBERT: (1913-1960) French Author and Philosopher. Nobel Prize winner in Literature, 1957. A good T.L.S., `Albert Camus´, two pages, 8vo, Paris, 22nd October 1947, on the Librairie Gallimard printed stationery, to Monsieur Ikor, in French. Camus gives his opinion to his correspondent and writer about some works forwarded to him, stating in part `Can I tell you that after reading your work, these have simply disappointed me…There is a kind of gap, a spread of sensitivity which discomforts the readers and give them the impression that the author has progressed a bit randomly´, further saying `If I was you I would not publish these news by volumes…You will for sure forgive me for telling you straight what I think. You know, don´t you, that I am and will remain your attentive reader and conscious of the relativity of any judgement.´ Accompanied by the original envelope. Together with T.L. to Albert Camus, by his correspondent Roger Ikor, with few lines autograph, four pages, 4to, La Frette, Cormeilles en Parisis, 8th June 1958, in French. Ikor, in this lengthy letter to Camus refers to De Gaulle, to fascism, to Alger, and concludes asking `Do you see any other way of proceeding? In any case it is urgent… am convinced. Misfortune will fall on us if we let them make us fall asleep´. VG, 2 £300-400
