WHITMAN WALT: (1819-1892) American Poet. A Humanist, widely recognized among the most influential American poets. D.S., Walt Whitman, being a signed cheque, Camden, New Jersey, 6th March 1875. The partially printed cheque, completed by Whitman, is drawn on the National State Bank and is made payable to the bearer for the sum of $50. The cheque bears to the front left border an attractive two cents US. Inter. Rev. colour stamp in very fine condition. With a binder hole to the upper left corner and three small holes, none affecting the text or signature. G £600-900
