This book is a segulah for an easy birth, and is customarily placed under the head of a birthing mother.
The author, kabbalist R. Uri Feivel of Krisnipoli and Dubienka (d. between 1804-1808), close disciple of R. Kehat of Werish, disciple of the Baal Shem Tov.
Many ownership inscriptions.
Two parts in two volumes. Vol. I (Bereshit-Shemot): [2], 29, 40-62, 53-76, 46 leaves (leaves 57-58 of the first sequence bound out of place). Vol. II (Vayikra-Devarim): [1], 60, 59-103 leaves. 23.5 cm. Overall fair condition, some leaves in good condition. Stains. Wear and open tears to first and final leaves of both volumes (affecting text of first two leaves of Vol. I and final leaf of Vol. II), repaired in part with paper. Worming to several leaves in both volumes, including significant worming in some places, affecting text. Traces of past dampness and mold stains to several leaves of Vol. II. Handwritten inscriptions and stamps. New leather bindings.
