Netivot HaMishpat – Lviv, 1836 – Glosses by Rebbe Yehuda'le Horowitz of Dzikov – Signatures of Romanian Rabbis
Netivot HaMishpat, novellae and commentaries on Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, two parts, by R. Yaakov Lorberbaum Rabbi of Lissa (Leszno). Lviv, 1836.
Two parts in one volume.
This edition contains many additions, omissions and changes in comparison to the first editions of the book. These changes – printed for the first time in this edition – were made following the arguments of the Ketzot HaChoshen in his Meshovev Netivot.
Stamps in Hebrew and Latin characters of Rebbe Yehuda (R. Yehuda'le) Horowitz-Hager of Dzikov on the title page and other leaves: "Yehuda Hager, dayan Klausenburg". The book contains several scholarly glosses, including lengthy glosses, handwritten by R. Yehuda'le. These glosses were presumably never printed.
This copy belonged to R. Yechiel Michel Tobias, rabbi of Vaslui, and to his son-in-law R. Matityahu Landau. Their signatures appear on the flyleaf and title pages.
See Hebrew text regarding the match between R. Matityahu Landau and the daughter of R. Yechiel Michel Tobias, which was arranged with the purpose of restoring peace between the two rabbis of Yas.
Rebbe Yehuda Horowitz-Hager of Dzikov (1905-1989), dayan and posek in Klausenburg and later lecturer in the Beit Yosef Tzvi (Dushinsky) yeshiva in Jerusalem. A close associate of the Chazon Ish. Served as rebbe in London is his final years.
[1], 107, [1], 89 leaves. Separate title page for part II. 39 cm. Good-fair condition. Dampstains. Wear. Worming to most of book. Tears to several leaves. Tears and worming to title page, inner margins repaired with tape. New leather binding.
