A booklet about the state of Jews in Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and other towns in Palestine. It includes translations of letters received by the "Organization of officials and administrators of Amsterdam" (Pekidim ve-Amarkalim) from Jewish communities in Palestine. At the end of the booklet appears a table listing amounts of donations collected in different cities in the Netherland, Germany, England and North America.
The "Organization of officials and administrators of Amsterdam" (Pekidim ve-Amarkalim) is a Jewish organization founded in 1809 for the purpose of collecting funds for supporting Jews in Palestine. The organization was lead by the Dutch banker Zvi Hirsch Lehren. His efficient methods of raising funds granted him and the organization much influence on the Jewish settlement as far as society, economy, education and welfare were concerned.
