Early Research of the Microscope – Nuremberg, 1687 – Tens of Etchings
Micrographia Nova, Sive, Nova & Curiosa Variorum Minutorum Corporum Singularis cujusdam & noviter ab Autore inventi Microscopii…, Joh. Francisko Griendelio. Nuremberg: Hohannis Ziegeri, 1687. Latin.
"New Micrography", early research of the microscope by Johann Franz Griendel in which he presents the significant developments of microscope lenses and field depths. This research was greatly influenced by Robert Hooke's famous book "Micrography", published in London in 1665. The book is accompanied by numerous etchings portraying plants and bugs as seen through the microscope built by the author himself. [8], 64 pp (p. 40 numbered as 38), 38 plates, 26 folded plates (it is possible that part of them are cut). 23 cm. Good Condition. Stains, mainly to title-page, minor moisture-marks to binding and the upper edges of some leaves, tears at borders of several leaves, blurred ink-stamp, original binding somewhat worn.
