Special Sermons about Matters of the Moment and about the Jewish Holidays – Handwritten by One of the Family Members of the Chatam Sofer
A collection of sermons handwritten by one of the rabbis of the Sofer family, about the Jewish holidays and current affairs. Written concisely as main points.
The source of the leaves is the archive of the rabbis of the Sofer family. The script is very similar to that of the 'Ketav Sofer'.
The collection includes several leaves, some of which are attached or glued to each other.
Description of the leaves:
The writer comments on the verse from Psalms 46: 9 "Come, behold the works of God, who has made desolations in the earth". He also refers to "the Parasha and Hanukkah". The writers also writes about the importance of the lesson that everything is from God even if it "something that moves heaven and earth". Obviously, the writer is referring to a disaster that had occurred those days, presenting related verses and homilies. "We must believe that God's hand has done this…" On the reverse side of the leaf, several Yiddish paragraphs.
An additional leaf with words of Mussar in Hebrew. On its reverse side, some Yiddish paragraphs.
A leaf with a (torn) caption and after it, words of Mussar. Written on one side of the leaf.
Two leaves, written on one of their sides, with words of Mussar for the High Holidays and Shabbat Teshuva. The margins are torn with omission.
A double leaf, written on two of its pages, with words of Mussar, repentance and redemption.
A poem, with several stanzas, about the blowing of the Shofar, handwritten by the above author. Written in Rashi script. One page.
A poem by the above other about Passover. Slight tears.
Condition: Good.
