The Military Chief Rabbinate - a Large, Variegated Collection - Includes Many Important and Interesting Items from the Time It was Established to This Day
Four large binders with dozens of variegated items:
Passover Haggadot, Scrolls of Esther, military Ketubot, interesting booklets published by the military Rabbinate and many more items.
For example:
Booklet for Passover 1949 - a booklet for the first Passover of the IDF in the State of Israel.
At the beginning of the booklet, a preface by lieutenant colonel Rabbi Shlomo Gorentzich [Goren] and touching words by Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Herzog.
On the back of the booklet, a photograph of the Old City of Jerusalem with an inscription "Le'Shana Ha'Ba'ah Bi'Yerushalayim Birateinu Ha'Bnuyah" (Next year, in Jerusalem our build capital).
There are additional booklets for the additional Jewish Holidays from the first months of the State.
A military Ketubah signed by Rabbi Shlomo Ha'Cohen Kook.
Three photographs of Hakafot Shniyot with the leaders of the army and the military Rabbinate.
The military Chief Rabbinate is the spiritual and religious center of the IDF. Its founder was Rabbi Shlomo Goren, who was a Torah scholar as well as a lieutenant colonel of the IDF. His perception was that the army is the army of the nation. Therefore, all its soldiers should observe the Sabbath and Jewish Holidays and its kitchens should be Kosher. His perception matched that of Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, who greatly admired Rabbi Goren.
Condition: Good. Typical wear.
