MUSIC AND THEATER - CECCHINI Pier Maria (1563 - 1645) - Commedia dell'Arte - Autograph letter signed, dated “Firenze addì 17 Xbre 1611” by the famous Italian comic actor of the Commedia dell'Arte. Cecchini urges his addressee to help him complete “..il mio negocio in Roma..”, since he has “…principiato sotto il suo auspicio…”. We report an extract as a sample: “…si ritrovò la lettera del (…) Cardinal Serra, ed dicono come egli ha smarrita la scrittura onde bisogna reccomisiar da capo…”. A character of great talent and temperament, a comedian by vocation, he said of himself “I am enough of everything”. He distinguished himself by playing the Zanni with a Ferrara accent in the Compagnia degli Accesi, of which he quickly became the head comedian.
