MUSIC AND THEATER - PEZZANA Giacinta (1841 - 1919) - Italian actress - Autograph letter signed, dated “Catania 27 - 8bre 95” by the Italian theater actress. She was the wife of the writer Luigi Gualtieri (1827 - 1901). Interesting letter in which, by setting out the conditions on the basis of which she is willing to sign theatre contracts, one can see what actor-theatre-impresarios relations were like in those days. She writes about the percentages for the theatres, the part for the company, her claims as prima donna, the availability of costumes and the importance of performing a novelty: “…I contratti coi (…) dovranno fare sempre sulla base d’una percentuale dal 65 al 70% non meno. In ogni introito netto si detta percentuale spettante alla Comp.[agni]a si detrarranno £ 50 per ogni recita a favore della Comp.a (…) L’avverto che nel mio repertorio vi saranno 3 novità importanti. Un dramma di Ibsen, una commedia francese brillantissima più un lavoro di Antona Traversi scritto appositamente per me…”. 4 pp. In-8. - This lot is located in EU.
