MUSIC AND THEATER - PRAGA Marco (1862 - 1929) - Italy - Two autograph letters signed by the Italian dramatist and theater critic. A. “Venerdì sera 19”. Addressed to the theater actor Virgilio Talli (1858 - 1928). Praga has very harsh words against a person “il Pes” who had evidently damaged his interests and those of the Theater Company he had formed with Irma Gramatica and Oreste Calabrese: “…Pigliare a calci il Pes ? No, non posso e non voglio insudiciarmi le scarpe (…) sono ben deciso a stamparli (e la “Scena” me lo stamperà se firmo con nome e cognome) che Pes è un ladro e un truffatore…”. Even Talli is not spared a rebuke for having: “…passeggiato con lui in Galleria…” but recognizes at the same time that Talli was one of the few who was not intimidated by that character. He then speaks in order to publish a newspaper: he mentions the conditions necessary for the venture to succeed and says that he is not, however, available to direct it: “…Provo dalle 10 e mezzo alle cinque. Sono morto di fatica…” although ready to cooperate. He then writes about Irma Gramatica: “…Irma s’è rimessa ed è su di morale. Certo à un ambiente ideale (…) è in teatro giorno e sera, di una cortesia, di una affabilità, di una affettuosità rare. Dovrebbe essere contenta e credo che lo sia…”. He ends by hinting at a Comedy (“L’Ombra”) that “…si è retta sino alla 7a…” and hopes that “l’Irma avrà un nuovo successo nella Petite Marquise…”. 4 pp. In-8. With letterhead “Compagnia del Teatro Manzoni/di Milano/Il Direttore”. B. “Milano, 17 dec 91”. Addressed to the theater actor Francesco Pasta (1839 - 1905). Announces to the correspondent the sending of a copy of “Le Vergini”: “…La Giannini, iersera, mi scongiurò che vi scrivessi di dare a lei la parte di Ninì. Tutte queste ragazze d’arte vorrebbero far quella parte. Che si sentano in carattere? (…) Certo la Giannini avrebbe il fisico e la verve adatti. So che la Giannini ne à parlato anche al bimbo cav.
