OPERA - BREVIARIO, Giovanni (Bergamo 1891 – there 1982)
A spinto lyric tenor, with a voice 'with a clear accent, ringing high notes and great temperament', he studied with maestros Vittore Baccanelli and Dante Lari in Milan and perfected his singing skills with maestro Giovanni Fratini. He made his debut in 1924 at the Pula Opera House in the part of Manrico in Il trovatore. His career began in provincial theatres, achieving flattering success, which led him to sing in the main Italian theatres, such as the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Regio in Parma, the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and the Teatro alla Scala. Due to his vocal characteristics, particularly suited to singing outdoors, he was engaged in several Italian amphitheatres; from the famous Arena in Verona, to the Gangi Amphitheatre in Catania. Abroad, he performed in theatres in Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Hungary, Egypt and Malta. In particular, 'He was a major protagonist in the period from 1927 to 1934 in the main Dutch theatres, where he made the Italian dramatic repertoire known, gaining important recognition'. Photographic portrait with autograph dedication dated Lugo 1935. Very good state Photographic postcard
