im rasanten Galopp reitender Mann mit Pelzkappe und Tafel in seiner Hand, hierauf in Feder geschrieben "Our Congratulation to the best Papa of England Germany and the Caucasus the children", aquarellierte Bleistiftzeichnung, in Rahmenrückwand Aussparung und hier in Blei bezeichnet "Wereschagin original", Papier gebräunt und geglättete Faltlinien, unter Passepartout und hinter Glas gerahmt, Passepartoutausschnitt ca. 15,5 x 21 cm. Künstlerinfo: russisch Василий Васильевич Верещагин, auch Vasilij Vasil'evič Vereščagin, russischer Kriegsmaler (1842 Tscherepowez bis 1904 vor Port Arthur), ab 1853 beim Marinekadettenkorps in Sankt Petersburg, 1860-63 Studium an der Kunstakademie in Petersburg, lebte ein Jahr in Paris und hier Studium an der École nationale superieure des beaux-arts bei Jean-Léon Gérome, 1867 Teilnehmer einer Expedition nach Turkestan, ab 1870 in München ansässig, 1874 längere Reise nach Indien, erlebte als Augenzeuge im Russisch-Türkischen Krieg die Schlacht am Schipkapass, welche sehr großen Einfluss auf ihn übte und er beschloss mit seiner Kunst die pazifistische Lebensweise zu propagieren, 1881-82 Reise nach Wien und Berlin sowie wiederholt nach Indien, 1902 Reise in die USA, Kuba und Philippinen, ab 1903 in Japan, bei der Rückreise versank das Schiff im Gelben Meer, das Kunstmuseum der ukrainischen Stadt Mykolajiw trägt seinen Namen, Werke in zahlreichen Museen und Ausstellungen, Quelle: Wikipedia.

A man riding at a rapid gallop with a fur cap and a tablet in his hand, inscribed "Our Congratulation to the best Papa of England Germany and the Caucasus the children" in pen and ink, watercolour pencil drawing, recess in the back of the frame and inscribed "Wereschagin original" in lead, paper browned and smoothed fold lines, matted and framed behind glass, mat cut-out approx. 15.5 x 21 cm. Artist information: Russian Василий Васильевич Верещагин, also Vasilij Vasil'evič Vereščagin, Russian war painter (1842 Cherepovets to 1904 off Port Arthur), from 1853 in the naval cadet corps in St Petersburg, 1860-63 studied at the St Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, lived in Paris for a year and studied at the École nationale superieure des beaux-arts under Jean-Léon Gérome, 1867 participant in an expedition to Turkestan, from 1870 resident in Munich, 1874 extended journey to India, witnessed the Battle of the Shipka Pass during the Russo-Turkish War, which had a great influence on him and he decided to use his art to propagate the pacifist way of life, 1881-82 travelled to Vienna and Berlin and repeatedly to India, 1902 travelled to the USA, Cuba and the Philippines, from 1903 to Japan, on the return journey the ship sank in the Yellow Sea, the art museum in the Ukrainian city of Mykolayiv bears his name, works in numerous museums and exhibitions, source: Wikipedia.
