A SAFAVID TINNED COPPER BOWL, PERSIA 18TH CENTURY - A deep, hemispherical Persian tinned-copper bowl, raised on a broad circular foot and finished with a narrow everted rim. The exterior is richly engraved throughout, with nastaʿlīq calligraphic inscriptions enclosed within cartouches along the upper register, interspersed with circular floral medallions. The main body is filled with scrolling vegetal ornament and flowering stems, among which are depicted seated deer, arranged in a continuous decorative composition. The engraved motifs are defined by darkened recesses against the warm copper ground, producing a strong contrast and richly textured surface. The interior is comparatively plain, while the underside is decorated with further engraved vegetal motifs. The surface displays a pronounced brown and green patina, with areas of wear and oxidation consistent with age. Diam. 22 cm. Height 10 cm.
