SAINT THOMAS, Frey Leão de. BENEDICTINA // LUSITANA // Dedicated to the Great // Patriarcha S. Bento. //..Tomes I & II. Coimbra, In the Officina of Diogo Gomes de Loureiro, 1644. In - folio peq. 2 vols. of (8) - 566-(36), and (8) - 519-(1) pp., respectively. Entire parchment bindings, recent but using plainchant sheets, with ties. Sound and clean paper. Ownership signatures and remains of the heraldic ex-libris of the time. With the full-page burin engraving on sheet metal of Patriarch S. Bento. Highlight for the history of monasteries and convents in Portugal, with the saints, men, monks and sors who stood out most in the rough and arduous way of Christian monastic virtue. Very rare work and in good condition, in a beautiful copy of the 17th-century Coimbra typography, printed in two columns, considered one of the classics of our ancient literature, written by a professor at the University of Coimbra. This work presents variations and the example described by Azevedo - Samodães, nº 3107, is dedicated to the king, while the latter to the patriarch S. Bento.
